Laundry Detergent

Most commercial laundry products are toxic and they pollute our environment, our ground and our waterway. Here is an easy way to make natural laundry detergent, cheap and friendly to the earth.

Ingredients

  • Half a bar grated Sunlight brand natural soap
  • 1.5 litres water
  • Half a cup of washing soda
  • 50 g borax
  • 6 litre hot water

Procedure

  1. Place soap in a saucepan with 1.5 litres of water and heat on low till soap is dissolved
  2. Stir in washing soda and borax. Stir for a few minutes until thickened and remove from heat
  3. Fill a bucket with 1 litre of hot water. Add the soap mixture and mix well
  4. Add another 5 litres of hot water to the mixture, and mix well
  5. Set aside for 24 hours or until mixture thickens. You may add 20 drops of lavender or other essential oil
  6. Use half a cup of mixture per load when washing your laundry
