Historic Maketu


Maketu is a historic seaside village with population of just over 1000 on the Bay of Plenty coast where the earliest human settlement in New Zealand arrived from Polynesia by Te Arawa canoes some time between 1250 and 1300. Maketu has some of the most beautiful and natural beaches in New Zealand, bird reserve, wet land, native species and the Kaituna river
